TESTIMONALS

DREW NOLOSCO (Director of Product at Jasco Games):

As Executive Editor at InterPop, many of Rachel's accomplishments were visible—she led the creation and publishing of high-quality digital comics shipping on time weekly for years. However, I'd specifically like to recommend Rachel for the outstanding work she did related to InterPop's game business. Rachel was the driving force behind the IP; leading the storytelling and character creation. Her collaboration with game and narrative designers on my team was exemplary; Rachel knew when to mold the IP side to the needs of a strategy game and when to push game design to explore new parts of the IP. Her deft management of a deep roster of artistic and writing talent served not only the comics side of the business but the growth of the IP for the whole company.

WILL PFEIFER (Writer, Catwoman, Aquaman, The Nine)

I know as executive editor of the Interpop comics, Rachel worked on a lot of big-picture tasks, including keeping an entire line of comics with a whole new batch of superheroes on-time, on-target, and acting as part of a cohesive story no matter who was writing or drawing them. But as one of those writers, I’d like to talk about what Rachel did with (and for) ME. (Typical writer’s ego, of course.) As I worked on the Interpop team book, The Nine, Rachel managed to keep all the continuity and timelines straight, keeping me on-track and inspiring me to tell the best stories I could. She was always pushing to make things crazier and more fun, and whatever success The Nine had is due in a big part to Rachel’s efforts.

MICHAEL WRIGHT (writer/editor)

I worked with Rachel on the DC Comics editorial team. She was a great team player, conscientious of her deadlines, and universally loved by the creators with whom she worked. When I left the DCU, I was relieved to see that a certain book that I had kicked off was going to be shepherded to completion by Rachel, because I knew she was the best person for the job!

JOHN ROZUM (writer for Scooby-Doo, Xombi, and The Abyss)

I’ve been privileged in working with Rachel Gluckstern for twenty years. She’s the perfect editor, leaving the creatives alone when they are doing what they do best, and jumping in with the exact correct suggestions when things need to be steered back on course. She encourages you to always deliver your best work because she’s doing the same at her end. She’s a valuable collaborator and I would jump at the opportunity to work with her again.

TAYLOR ESPOSITO (Letterer, Elvira, Red Hood, Harley Quinn: The Animated Series)

I’ve worked with Rachel back when we were both on staff at DC Comics, and she was one of my favorite editors to work with. Always helpful with information or references as needed, and yet gave me the freedom I needed to do my best work. A highlight of my week would be working on books together. A testament to her abilities is that I look forward to working with her again. Her career since that time goes to show how capable and valuable she is to any publisher.

ROBERT POPE (artist for Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Peanuts)

Rachel exemplifies the best qualities an artist can hope to find in an editor; a keen understanding of the task at hand, a patience for creative exploration in the service of the best the artist can deliver, but always with a healthy respect for the ever-present deadline. My many collaborations at DC with Rachel are among my fondest professional memories and I believe her presence resulted in some of my best work.

J. TORRES (writer for Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Cartoon Network Block Party, Emergents Presents)

Rachel is always professional, communicative, and collaborative - exactly what you want from an editor. Add to that a fun and open-minded attitude toward your ideas however wild, and you get someone you enjoy working with. I’m very appreciative of the opportunities she’s given me over the years and would work with her again in a heartbeat.

CHRISTY MARX (creator of Jem and the Holograms, writer for G.I. Joe, and formerly Senior Narrative Designer at Zynga):

It was my great pleasure to have Rachel as my editor at DC Comics, especially during the reboot and writing of Sword of Sorcery aka Amethyst. She gave me support on many levels. Her editing skills are excellent. She understands story, character development, and pacing. When she had to present me with a problem or change in direction, she was always ready with possible solutions and ideas at the same time. She would listen to my writerly rants with patience, keeping a level head while she guided me in the direction I needed to go. I’m happy to count Rachel as both a creative resource and a friend.

BRIAN STILLMAN (Founder, X-Ray Films, Director and Producer, Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys, Eye of the Beholder: The Art of D&D):

Rachel is a creative and dynamic professional, and I regularly reach out to her for editorial guidance. She keenly understands the nuances of a good narrative—both written and visual—and knows how to guide a team to produce its best work. Her experience in publishing provides her with insights into market trends and audience interests, but her real super power is simply a deep, unabashed love for telling great stories.

ZACH HOWARD (Artist and creator, Moonshine Bigfoot)

Rachel Gluckstern was my longtime cover editor for DC Comics' Justice League Unlimited and Blue Beetle. Working with her was was always enjoyable as she gave me outstanding assignment direction, while allowing the freedom to still be an artist. Excellent editor.

SHOLLY FISCH (President of MediaKidz Research & Consulting, writer for DC Entertainment, Dynamite, and more):

Of all the many editors I've worked with over the years, Rachel is one of my favorites -- smart, funny, and one of those rare editors who collaborates closely with a writer and only makes changes that genuinely improve the story.  Not to mention that, even when I bring her my goofiest ideas, Rachel's reply will inevitably be to suggest tossing in something even goofier too.  It's always a pleasure to work with Rachel, a good friend and a great editor.

ADAM BENDER (Journalist and writer of The Wanderer and the New West, We, the Watched and Divided We Fall):

Rachel provided great suggestions for improving my story and was thorough in finding grammar and style issues with the text. She was very professional and I could tell that she closely read my novel and wanted it to be the best it could be. Also, Rachel has great communication skills; it was always easy to reach her with questions and to discuss how best to improve problem areas.
